Rimage [NSDQ: Rimg] announced today that Imaging & Document Solutions Magazine has selected the company's new producer 2000 Protégé DVD-R Automated Publishing System as one of 21 "Best of AIIM 2000" award winners. The Best of AIIM selections were made after reviewing new products and solutions exhibited at the AIIM show, held in New York, April 10-12, and were chosen following more than 80 conferences and in-depth demonstrations with the magazine's staff. The opinions of analysts, consultants and fellow journalists were also taken into account.
The new Protégé DVD-R solution was recognized for its ability to store and manage massive amounts of information for large document collections and for data-intensive applications such as audio, video and medical imaging. Imaging and Document solutions cited the Protégé as "perfect for firms that need to widely distribute large amounts of data that can't be efficiently transmitted over a network." Each DVD-R disc can hold up to 4.7GBs of data, seven times more than traditional CD-R optical storage media.
Imaging and Document Solutions reported, "The Best of AIIM award recognizes products that break new ground or that offer powerful combinations of state-of-the-art features. In most cases these solutions are already available, but a few cutting-edge products are slated for introduction later this year." Rimage Protégé is among those products offering a new solution with its industry-first DVD-R publishing system, and has already begun shipping.
The fully automated Protégé DVD-R features two Pioneer 2nd generation DVD-R recorders. The Protégé offers 120-disc capacity, and is able to simultaneously record two unique fully recorded DVD-Rs every 60 minutes. The system also includes Rimage's Prism printer, a full-color thermal transfer printer that is the fastest and most cost-effective printer in the industry. Rimage's Perfect Imageâ producer Software Suite allows the unit to operate in unattended environments.
The AIIM trade show is staged annually by the Association for Information and Image Management, Silver Spring, MD (www.aiim.org). The awards are conferred solely by Imaging & Document Solutions and independently from AIIM. Rimage received its award in the Storage and Peripherals category.
